Online directory connects pet owners to local at-home end-of-life care services
Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice & In-Home Euthanasia has recently released an In-Home Pet Hospice & Euthanasia Provider Directory.1 This online platform supports the increasing requests for at-home companion animal end-of-life care and euthanasia services by linking US families with local providers specializing in this area.
"At Lap of Love, we want to ensure we connect all pet parents with the end-of-life care and euthanasia services they are seeking," expressed Mary Gardner, DVM, Lap of Love co-founder, in a organizational release.2 "Currently, our support center receives over 10,000 calls a week, and when all our doctors are booked with appointments, we need to refer calls to other end-of-life and euthanasia in-home providers.
“When one of our doctors isn't available, or if it is an area that we do not currently service, we plan to direct families to this new directory. Our top priority is ensuring pets at the end stage of life get the care and services they need, whether it's from Lap of Love or another caring veterinarian,” she added.
The In-Home Pet Hospice & Euthanasia Provider Directory is available at no cost for pet owners. Veterinary providers specializing in end-of-life care can make a profile listing for free as well.
"General practices, specialty, and emergency clinics can also easily direct families seeking in-home, end-of-life care or euthanasia services to this directory," added Gardner, in a dvm360® interview.
She also shared that innovation is a core strength at Lap of Love and it is constantly using technology to further enhance the experience of pet families, team members, and the veterinary community. She revealed some more updates the organization has in store.
"Currently, we are building a more sophisticated and dynamic scheduling system with text notification capability," Gardner shared, in the interview.
"Our lapoflove.com website continues to be a wealth of resources including an interactive quality of life scale that in the near future will be available in a mobile app. Needless to say – we are busy and loving it."
