Mobile heart-health tour rolls through the Midwest

Article

Free heart health screenings give dogs a place to heal on four wheels.

Remember the overwhelming joy you felt as a kid when you heard the melodic tones of the ice cream truck driving down the street? Midwestern dogs might get the same feeling when a certain vehicle cruises into town.

The Midwest Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour will provide free heart examinations to dogs this month in an effort to raise awareness of heart disease, which affects about 11 percent of dogs in the United States. The tour will stop in St. Louis on Aug. 28, and in Chicago on Aug. 30. Along with performing the free screenings, veterinary cardiologists will also answer any questions about the disease and make owners aware of its symptoms.
