Ask yourself these questions to check the health of your office safe

You use an office safe to keep prying people from getting their hands on private practice paperwork. But without periodic checkups, your safe may keep out an unintended person--you.

Stephenie Slahor, JD, Ph.D., a management educator and writer in Palm Springs, Calif., suggests that you ask yourself these questions to check the health of your safe:

* Does it take you more than one try to dial or key in the combination?

* Is the dial or keypad becoming more difficult to turn or use?

* Does the door feel cumbersome, stiff on its hinges, or harder to open or shut?

If your safe becomes difficult to use, call your locksmith and ask a safe technician to check your safe. That service call will save you time, frustration, and cost by nipping any problem in the bud.
