According to Dr. Cline, this information gap prompted the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) and American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) to develop a list of questions for pet food manufacturers that go beyond the label to give veterinary professionals in-depth insight into the companies and their products.
“The veterinary team plays a vital role in helping pet owners make informed decisions,” WSAVA says. If a manufacturer cannot or will not answer the questions in this handout, you may want to think twice about recommending its product to your clients.
