Gary Glassman, CPA, and Dr. Richard Wilkes bring together practice owners to share financial data and best practices.
Veterinary Economics Editorial Advisory Board member Gary Glassman, CPA, has joined forces with the founder of a 1,500-practice buying alliance to organize veterinary management study groups and collect and share data from practice owners.
The new business, Strategic Growth Alliance, is a joint venture of Glassman, a partner with Burzenski and Co. in New Haven, Conn., and Dr. Richard Wilkes, founder and president of Florida-based Purchasing Services Inc., which uses collective buying power to get better prices on equipment and services for its members.
Strategic Growth Alliance member groups—each consisting of about 20 practice owners who belong to Purchasing Services Inc.—will share financial and operational data and network with colleagues in their group to share financial best practices. Members will receive yearly reviews of their practice financial data and meet at least twice a year with fellow members.
Strategic Growth Alliance joins other veterinary management groups already in existence. Consultant Owen McCafferty, CPA, operates nine groups, according to his website. Denise Tumblin, CPA, owner and president of Wutchiett Tumblin and Associates in Columbus, Ohio, and also a Veterinary Economics Editorial Advisory Board member, has organized at least four in the past few years.
