AVMA seeks veterinarians input on welfare policies

-- The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) wants its members to share their thoughts on its animal welfare policies.

A new online tool on the association’s Web site aims to make soliciting opinions from the profession easier when policies come under review or consideration for adoption.

“Few topics in veterinary medicine today stir as much passion and interest from our members as animal welfare,” says Dr. Larry Corry, AVMA president.

AVMA members can she their thoughts on animal welfare policies under consideration or review by the AVMA’s Animal Welfare Committee by visiting the animal welfare section of the Web site and clicking on “submit a comment” under the policy in question. Member-submitted comments will not be visible to the public, but will be compiled into summary form by AVMA along with responses from the AVMA Animal Welfare Committee to the member suggestions.
