PetSmart Veterinary Services unveils first veterinary hospital in Arizona
First hospital opened after PetSmart Veterinary Services debuted its new independent, franchise business ownership model for veterinarians
PetSmart Veterinary Services (PVS) has recently opened its first veterinarian hospital location in Peoria, Arizona, after announcing its new independent, franchise business ownership model empowering veterinarians to own and operate their own business.
“Since announcing PVS, we have received a tremendous response from veterinarians across the country expressing interest in becoming business owners and excitement for the opportunity to begin building their own practice,” expressed John Bork, senior vice president of vet health services at PetSmart, in a company release.1 “Opening this first hospital location brings great momentum to the future of PVS and the continued support of veterinarian professionals who we know will do anything for pets through their expertise and diligent care.”
According to the release, veterinarians open their own franchised practice through PVS, enabling them to oversee an independent business at the fraction of the cost of starting a new practice on their own. PVS performs the build-out and offers cutting-edge veterinary equipment required for each hospital. What’s more, every owner has access to administrative support from PVS’ team of industry experts. Plus, each PVS hospital will maintain American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation.
“PetSmart Veterinary Services is all about putting veterinary hospital ownership back in the hands of veterinarians,” stated Jaime Klimsey Pickett, DVM and owner of the first PVS location to open its doors.

PVS plans to open additional veterinary hospitals throughout the next few months in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
