Nearly 100 dogs and puppies will be there for on-site adoptions at Kentucky Exposition Center this May
The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) with Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) will host the inaugural Lou Adopts! mega adoption event to help approximately 100 adoptable local dogs and puppies find their forever homes. Sponsored by Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers, Lou Adopts! will provide on-site adoptions at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center Pavilion on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 p.m.
“With shelters nationwide struggling with unprecedented crowding, there is no better time than now to adopt and give a forever home to a deserving dog or puppy,” said Ashley Book, Interim shelter director at LMAS, in an organizational release.1 “In addition to waived adoption fees, all our adoptable pets are already spayed-neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.”
Local shelters, like all other shelters nationwide, are facing an increase in the number of animals being surrendered while adoptions are down. Lou Adopts! aims to help as many dogs and puppies possible find homes to make space in local shelters so that they can further care for animals in need.
Additional organizations that will be featured at the event include Golden Retriever Rescue and Adoption of Needy Dogs, MisPits, Animal Care Society, Hardin County Animal Shelter, and Anderson County Care and Control, so the public has access to an array of friendly, loving adoptable local dogs and puppies.
“We are thrilled for so many of our local shelters to come together at Lou Adopts! to offer adopters a chance to find their perfect match, and for the support of Isaacs & Isaacs to help make this event possible,” said Alisa Gray, President & CEO, KHS, in the release. “Our community’s local shelters are extremely crowded right now, so when you adopt at Lou Adopts!, you’re not just giving a loving home to your new best friend, you’re supporting your local shelters and helping make room for them to save more animals.”1
Adoption fees will differ according to participating shelter. Jefferson County adopters will be required to pay a $10.50 licensing fee. All the dogs and puppies will be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and updated on vaccinations.1 Isaacs & Isaacs will offer each adopter with a unique branded “Hammer” gift that will only be available at this event. Attendees have the chance to have their photo taken with Darryl Isaacs, owner and founder of Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers.
“I love dogs, I even feel like I might have been a dog in a former life,” said Isaacs. “So if there’s anything we can do to make sure these lovable animals find their family, we’re proud and excited to be involved. If you’re looking to fill your home with more love, you won’t find a better place to do it than this event.”
Lou Adopts! is free to attend. Food and drinks will be available to buy onsite from local food trucks and Kentucky Exposition concessions. Parking is free when entering through Gate 4 of the Fair and Exposition Center. Go here to learn more: kyhumane.org/LOUADOPTS!
