The single, tri-folded sheets don't need envelopes and can be mailed without taping or stapling, saving the practice time, labor, and money, she says. She offers these other simple tips.

Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital saves time and money by using a simple design for informational letters on such topics as flea and tick products or Pet Dental Health Month. The practice team uses a copy center to reproduce and tri-fold the letters on colored paper, says practice manager Lynette Ott. The single, tri-folded sheets don't need envelopes and can be mailed without taping or stapling, saving the practice time, labor, and money, she says. She offers these other simple tips:

  • Limit your letter to one 8.5-by-11-inch sheet of paper; use different fonts, italics, bold, and underline to emphasize key points in the text.

  • Use the middle panel of the reverse side for clients' addresses, your return address, the practice URL, and maybe a small cartoon or image.

  • On the two side flaps, give a short version of the information in the letter or a quick fact that relates to the subject you're covering. These teasers may entice busy clients to read more of the information you have provided.
