A giving tree for pets

Article

A Christmas tree in the lobby displays items needed by local animal shelters.

One of my technicians, Emily Groen, LVT, came up with a great idea for the holidays. She put up a Christmas tree in our lobby to function as our pet angel tree. She also bought cookie cutters and cut out different shapes from construction paper. Then, on each cutout, she listed an item that's needed by our local rescue groups and humane society—things such as "dog toy," "cat litter," "blanket," and so on. She hung the cutouts all over the tree so that clients can take an ornament, purchase the item, and bring it back to us. We will then deliver all the items to the shelter and rescue groups as a team. This activity has been a great morale booster and community involvement activity, and it also helps those local pets that aren't celebrating the holidays with a loving family.
