Pets go paperless
iPhone application helps owners track their pets' health.
The word "iPod" might now stand for Important Pet Ownership Documents or Information for Pets On Demand. That's because a new iPhone application is helping owners virtually track their pets' health information.
The application, called Pet Phone, records appointments, medications, allergies, and weight for multiple pets and has a new “Find a Vet” option to help clients locate the nearest clinic in an emergency. So the next time you ask about Fluffy's allergies, don't be surprised if your client reaches for a portable device.
Other applications, such as iPet Cats and iFluff Pets, allow pet lovers to adopt and care for virtual pets on their iPhones. And, when iPhone users download the video game “Shivering Kittens” during the month of April, application creator GiantCrayon Games will donate one dollar to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
Phantom Particle, a company that makes iPhone applications, recently released it's own version of Pet Phone, called Pet Owner's Manual. Priced at only $1.99, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of this application go the ASPCA too.
